The Ministry of Transport, Works, Lands and Physical Planning has noted five hundred and fifty three- (553) homes in its River Crossing and Housing Infrastructure detailed damage assessment – La Soufriere eruption 2021.

This was noted by prime minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves on radio. He said the homes were classified into four categories ranging from low (level 1); medium (level 2),  high (level 3) and replace (level 4).

According to the prime minister the numbers are expected to increase as there are homes that may need to be relocated based on their present location and as the river valleys continue to expand.

At present 150 of the 553 homes are classified as level 4.

The pm also shared that the cost estimated thus far for repairs to river crossings and homes to be in the region of 63.6 million dollars combined. This number he said is also expected to increase.
