Self-employed persons in the country are strongly encouraged not only to put aside something for rainy days but also to join a social insurance program in which they will be entitled to a benefit at retirement.

The encouragement came from the Director of the National Insurance Services Stewart Haynes during an appearance on NBC radio last week.

The NIS is currently engaged in public consultations about the considerations for pension reform.
