The first batch of Vincentians to give of their service to the relief and rebuilding efforts of British Virgin Islands left the state on Thursday.

Minister of Economic Planning Camillo Gonsalves has expressed concern that many Vincentians living and working in the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, have become unemployed, due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Irma.
SVG as well as the Caribbean Community has come in for high praise in its efforts to aid its Caricom neighbors which have been devastated by hurricanes Irma and Maria.
An official government delegation comprised of Minister of Foreign Affairs Camillo Gonsalves, Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar and three (3) technicians is expected to visit several of the hurricane affected islands to meet nationals of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to better structure further recovery assistance.
Britain has not taken up an offer from St. Lucia that the island is prepared to house prisoners from the hurricane battered British Virgin Islands (BVI), according to Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet.
